BACK TO THE LAB AGAIN

As you all know, I really and truly SUCK at this social media stuff....it's a love hate relationship because I feel I want to share stuff with y'all....but I really don't think I'm all that interesting.  I don't have a reality TV show, I'm not on Facebook.  (...OK..full disclaimer, I do have a Facebook profile but to be honest....Facebook scares me....not as much as Australian bird eating spiders...but definitely up there on the list.)

So now I'm going to be putting my focus on going back into the lab and working with some KILLER up and coming artists and write their future hits.  I've updated my artist page so you can find your new favorites!

I'm also going to be working with some local producers on my never ending quest to earn some grant money so I can put some pro demos together!  If they are cool.... and I don't suck at the vocals too much.....and I try and understand how soundcloud works, I'll try and post them.

Thanks again for checking out my little world here...it's not much but I'm happy to call it mine.  And also Thank you for your comments and questions.....but most of all....thank you for not calling me "CHAD" more than once.  Another of my world domination goals is to teach Siri not to Auto Co-wreck my own name in every e-mail I send.....

ACMA RESULT BLOG

Well, as promised, here are the results of the ACMA.  But before we do that, I'd like to take a moment to let you all know about the talent we are building here in Alberta.  Some of the performances were jaw dropping at this event, and with a sneak preview of what these folks are working on, well, all I can say is get ready.

#Awesome:  Ok, fun story here....well....I can laugh about it now.  I REALLY, REALLY wanted this one.  And when the mind REALLY, REALLY wants something, it's amazing how time is a relative thing. If you say the name of our song "Hashtag Awesome" it's said in less than a second.  However, when the winner is being announced that less than a second feels like a good 5 seconds...and that fictitious 5 seconds can seem like an eternity.

The winner was "Hello Patio" by my friends Hey Romeo and Deric Ruttan.  But for less than a fraction of a micro second, when they announced the "HEH" in Hello... it felt like my heart actually stopped.  I expect this to lead to a song about "time" in the near future...you know...as a present to all of you about something from my past.  (Yes, it's ok to shake your head at the bad play on words)

(As a side note...and for those of you keeping score...that Deric 2 - Chard 0....but it's good to have goals.... after all he does have a Grammy, is a phenomenal Songwriter, and knows more than 5 chords on a guitar, and was one of the first people that spoke to me about songwriting in the industry.  As for me ....well...I can say that I've watched the Grammy's)

Male Artist: I had no such aspirations or illusions of making a run at this one.  The nomination caught me off guard and I'm still so humbled to be considered by my peers to even be mentioned with the artists in this one!  Thank you!!

Brett Kissel took this one for his PHENOMENAL YEAR.  Congrats dude!

Now....to start sacrificing pens, pencils, keyboards and paper for the next perfect rhyme......

Wow.....ummm....where to start with this one.

Well, It seems that my peers in Alberta have deemed that #Awesome, written with my good friends Olivia Wik and Connor James, is....worthy!  I have been informed that #Awesome has made the final ballot for the "Song of the Year" Category for the 2014 ACMA awards.  I am SUPER excited for this chance and so thankful for everyone that has danced to this song this year!  Fingers are crossed for this one!!

And if that's not enough, I am thrilled to announce that my peers have decided I'm also in the running for "Male artist of the Year"! I am beyond words to be in the same category of some amazing talent that I have on my iPod. Folks like, Bobby Wills, Bret Kissel, Drew Gregory, Jake Mathews to name a few.  I would be fooling myself if I thought I had a chance in this category, but it is a MASSIVE HONOR that I do not take lightly to know that people believe in my songs and melodies.  I'll let you all know how it turns out.

So #Awesome is doing some really amazing things right now.  We just found out that Connor was chosen to be featured in their #TDThankYou Campaign.  What does this mean.....well let me show you.

Click HERE for #Awesome Music Video

It is being featured in a National Ad Campaign and is some massive exposure for the song.  I have no idea if TD Canada Bank will ever see this post, but if they do I would like to say this to the people that believe in Connor and our song:

"To choose this life of creating something from nothing is hard.  I mean REALLY hard.  Most of the time we get criticized, told it's not good enough, and we question what we are doing and if it even matters.  TD Canada....you might not know it, (and if you don't I hope that somehow the google filters and alerts let you see this post,) THIS MEANS THE WORLD TO ME, OLIVIA AND CONNOR!!!  Thank you for letting our song be heard, believing in us, and choosing Connor for this amazing opportunity.  You've not only inspired us to work harder, but made our whole YEAR with this amazing gift.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

Now, enjoy the videos!!!!!!!

Fundraising Efforts:

A HUGE thank you to everyone that supported K-Leigh's Corner's Fundraiser for High River.  With your help we were able to raise over $61,000 dollars for the town of High River.  I can't tell you how much of an honour it was to be asked to play that event.  It was a ton of fun, but now the real hard work of rebuilding starts...
